How to Join
Joining Indy Runners and Walkers is simple! Just follow these steps:
1. Select Your Membership Type:
We offer 4 different membership types (see here).
2. Register Online:
Complete our quick online membership form.
3. Complete the Waiver:
For your safety, please fill out our waiver before your first club event.
4. Join a Run or Walk:
Check our schedule and show up! Our friendly members will be there to greet you and help you get started.

The “All In Membership Assistance Fund” was designed during the pandemic as an aid to those who were most affected financially during an extraordinary time in our history. Now, as then, it relies on the honor system. Indy Runners and Walkers is a non-profit organization, and we want to continue to offer this support to people in need as a way to keep them connected with healthy movement, the club, and the community during challenging times.
We are certainly aware that it is possible to “game the system” and use this membership type solely as a way to obtain the club discount on some of our races and events. But we ask that you use the honor system in choosing this type of club membership based upon your personal situation. No questions asked, and names of those utilizing the fund will be held in strict confidence by the club leadership.

Do I have to be an experienced runner to join?
Not at all! Indy Runners and Walkers is open to all levels, from beginners to seasoned athletes. Our motto, “A Place for Every Pace,” means we welcome everyone!
Can I try a run before joining?
Yes! You’re welcome to attend your first month for free to see if our club is the right fit for you. Sign up for your free trial here.
How can I stay informed about events and updates?
All members receive our monthly newsletter, and we’re active on social media. Be sure to follow us for event updates, race news, and more.
What pace groups are available at weekly runs and walks?
When we say “A Place for Every Pace” we mean it! Run groups will range from 6:00/mile to 13:00/mile with everything in-between. Walk groups are available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

When and where do you meet for weekly runs and walks?
Meeting points vary depending on the day of the week.
- Sunday AM: 8:00 AM (Sept – May) or 7:30 AM (June – Aug) Fort Harrison State Park (Park Pass Required!)
- Monday AM: 5:45 AM at Downtown Athenaeum YMCA
- Tuesday PM: 6:00 PM Hinkle Fieldhouse (Butler)
- Wednesday PM: 6:00 PM at Downtown Athenaeum YMCA
- Thursday PM: 6:00 PM at Runners Forum (Broad Ripple)
- Saturday AM: 8:00 AM (Oct – May) or 7:30 AM (June – Sept) at St Vincent (Broad Ripple)

What distances are the weekly runs and walks?
Distances vary depending on the day. We have groups that meet 6 days per week ranging from shorter distances (2-5 miles) to longer distances (8-20 miles depending on the season and training program).
- Sunday AM: 2 – 13.1 miles
- Monday AM: 3 – 5 miles
- Tuesday PM: 1 – 8+ miles; optional speedwork available on Fall and Spring Training Programs
- Wednesday PM: 3 – 5 miles
- Thursday PM: 1 – 8+ miles
- Saturday AM: Long run! 3 – 10+ miles (as high as 20 during Fall Training Programs)
