Speedwork Paces

Have you ever wanted to do speedwork, but it suggested running at marathon race pace, half marathon race pace, or some other race pace? What if you’ve only run a 5K? How fast are those other paces?

Enter a recent race result (NOT your desired race result), and this calculator will output appropriate race paces (marathon, half marathon, etc.).

The calculator will also estimate your lactate threshold pace, the point where lactate accumulates in the blood faster than it can be removed. This is roughly the maximum pace you can race for an hour.

Marathon Race Pace
Half Marathon Race Pace
15K Race Pace
10K Race Pace
5K Race Pace
Mile Race Pace
Lactate Threshold Pace
Note: Where available, the paces are derived from RRCA pace charts developed by Amby Burfoot. Other paces are derived using Riegel's Equation T2 = T1 x (D2/D1)^1.06 where:
T2 = Race Time 2,
T1 = Recent Race Time,
D2 = Race Distance 2, and
D1 = Recent Race Distance.
